The Official Draw Ceremony for Basketball Champions League took place at the House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland on Tuesday 11 July at 14:00.

Keravnos Team has been paired against the Russian Team BC Avtodor Saratov.  The first game will be held at Nicosia on the 19th of September and the away game on the 21st at Saratov Russia. (The competition starts on 19 September 2017 with the first of the three Qualification Rounds).

The Head Coach of Keravnos and the team manager of the club commented about the draw and the participation of the club in the European competition:

“For Keravnos is a new challenge thus we return to European basketball after a five year absence and the aim is to continue with the history of good performances in Europe.

The draw for the preliminary round of Basketball Champions League paired as with the Russian team «BC Avtodor Saratov.

It is well known that Russian basketball is one of the best in Europe and Russian teams invest heavily in their team rosters a lot so they can me competitive both in their home league as well as in Europe.

BC Avtodor Saratov is an experience team and competes in the VTB United League which is one of the most competitive leagues in Europe and they have a well-known coach, the Italian Mazzon Andrea, with a lot of experience and a good name in Europe.

Our return to Europe will not be easy, however we will do our best to both be competitive and enjoy the return to European basketball”.

“I had a unique experience during my presence at the Basketball Champion League draw. The whole procedure was well organized and I have the confidence that in the future will be the primary European League.

Regarding our draw we were a bit unlucky to be drawn against a very strong opponent like the Russian team BC Avtodor Sartov.

It is a well-known fact that Russian Basketball ranks among the best in Europe and teams there invest a lot in order attract the best overseas players and keep Russian players in homeland.

BC Avtodor Sartov has high expectations of reaching the ‘Final Four’ this year.

In concluding I would like to express our joy that Keravnos returns to Europe after an absence of five years and our aim is to get ready for the games and give our very best”.
